“Becoming a monster isn’t always so black and white.”

Based on real events – the life of Rotisha Geter.
Rotisha grew up across the street from a serial killer – a serial killer who to this day has not been caught. After witnessing murder after murder, the neighbor was on to her. He did everything in his power to intimidate her, and make her look mentally unstable. From destroying her house – to gaslighting her family – to building rapport with the police – this man knew one thing : how to get away with murder. Despite finding over a dozen bodies inside his house, he is still at large.
Our experiences mold us. None of us are exempt from how our traumas have the potential to perpetuate the cycle. Ourselves is a film that forces you to see that you could have been a murderer, too.

Who we are

We are a diverse female run production company. Our cast and crew is very diverse in age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and background. It is important for us as a multi racial, female run production company to afford opportunities as lead characters to people that are sometimes overlooked in the industry (Dark skin, different races, trans, LGBTQ, disabled etc.) We are group of women who came together to bring real change to the film industry by being inclusive, while opening up doors to conversations that need to be had, and stories that need to be told.

Why ‘Ourselves’?

This film is based on true events. It is a film that poses the question: are people – especially those who are considered a menace to society – the way they are as a result of their life experiences, or were they simply born that way? We all believe we are somehow exempt from deviant behavior. This film will make one question who they could have become if the circumstances were just right. Ourselves is a film of what has been, and what could be.

Why you should help

‘Ourselves’ touches on a number of subjects throughout the film, including race inequality, psychological stigmas, and more. We feel there are many conversations that need to be had, and we want to open the door for conversation in a way that isn’t too in your face, and easily relatable. We are providing an opportunity for young talent, especially young minorities, to grow their career with a well respected and accredited production team. All cast and crew will automatically be IMDb accredited, as our production company is IMDb accredited. This will provide cast and crew the opportunity to grow further in their career. We are providing opportunities for those of all experience levels, and are mentoring new film makers on our set, while still paying them as they learn. As film making is a passion for us, our top priority is telling stories that need to be told, while giving back to the local economy. We are also looking to raise awareness for cold case files, as the film is based on true events, and the serial killer depicted in ‘Ourselves’ is still at large.
